Development studies

264-2.JPG

Development studies is a multidisciplinary field of research. As a problem-based field, it attempts to find explanations to “development problems” such as extreme poverty, and to analyse the conflicting meanings of development. Development studies combines theories originating in different disciplines, especially political economy, anthropology and sociology. Studying the subject prepares students to general expertise in social development, particularly to a career in development cooperation management.

The discipline of Development studies in the department of social sciences and philosophy co-ordinates the Masters Programme in Development, Education and International Co-operation, in co-operation with the faculty of education. The masters programme is multidisciplinary and international.
