Political Science

My main field of interest is the relationship between religion, politics and rhetoric, especially in the 20th century. More specifically, I am interested in the political and ethical dimensions of Lutheran theology and pastoral power during periods of profound political transformations. As regards the above-mentioned themes, I have found an eclectic group of thinkers and theorists such as Kenneth Burke, Northrop Frye, Michel Foucault, Hannah Arendt, Giorgio Agamben, John Howard Yoder, Carl Schmitt, Max Weber, and Martin Luther a useful party to accompany me during my ventures.

At the moment I am conducting my post-doctoral research project in which I analyze Finnish Lutheran pastoral power from a rhetorical perspective in the early decades of the Cold War.
