Current research:

My post-doctoral research examines international parliamentary organizations - the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU); European Parliament (EP), especially the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP); and ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in their policy related to Southeast Asia and United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The research addresses and seeks new perspective on international parliamentary institutions, parliamentary diplomacy, Europe-Southeast Asia cooperation and SDGs. It attempts to bring the institutions and Southeast Asia into more comprehensive conversation, so that parliamentary ‘voices’ are also heard along with executives’ dominant views. The SDG topic is also relevant, as the goals - including eliminating poverty - need to be achieved by 2030. New Institutionalism theory and case-study method will be applied to address questions how parliamentary assemblies will be effective in the control and oversight to implement SDGs on the international level.
