I am a doctoral student in Social Policy. Currently, I am working in an EU funded research project that looks into the enabling and disabling factors that affect the integration of post-2014 migrants into the labour market in different European countries. This project will go on 2018-2020.

The focus of my PhD thesis is on the migration and development nexus. I am researching the way that migration and migrants can affect development and societal change from the viewpoint of social remittances. In my research, migrants are seen as “change agents”.

I have a master’s degree from sociology, history and political science. In have written my master’s thesis for sociology and political science on the economic remittances that migrants send from Finland. In my master’s thesis for history, I analysed the various ways that the giving of official development assistance is justified by the government in Finland.
