Biography

Ari Paloviita gained agrologist degree at the Mustiala agricultural college in 1993 and doctoral degree (Dr.Sc. Econ. & B.A.) in corporate environmental management at the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics in 2004. He is now a senior researcher of the Food System Studies Research Group in the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the University of Jyväskylä. He has previously worked as a researcher at the Helsinki University of Technology (1999-2000) and as a senior assistant at the Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (2004-2014). He specialises in sustainable food supply chain management, food system vulnerability and resilience, and climate change adaptation.

The Relevance and Benefits of my Research

I focus on food security and sustainable food systems as ultimate societal outcomes of the food system activities including agriculture, processing, retail, food service and consumption. The objective of the research is to find sustainable and resilient food supply chain approaches in order to address the environment, health and societal needs.
