Biography

I studied philosophy at the University of Helsinki (PhD 2000) and was appointed docent of philosophy at the same university in 2009. Since 2013 I am Senior lecturer in gender studies at the University of Jyväskylä.

Research

My current research focuses on the history of women philosophers and feminist thought, particularly during the 17th and 18th Centuries. The rediscovery of forgotten women thinkers reconstructs the canon of philosophy and contributes to a deeper understanding of how the meaning of concepts essential to contemporary feminist theory - such as equality, difference, sex and gender - have developed.

I am academic board member of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership Gender and Philosophy  http://genderandphilosophy.weebly.com/
