How to find courses?

As a doctoral student, you have much freedom to study the courses that you find the most beneficial for your work. You can include the courses in your study plan by negotiating with your supervisor. Here are the most important sources for finding courses.

1. University of Jyväskylä - Korppi system

Most of the courses offered by University of Jyväskylä are in Korppi-system.


INFORTE is a national program that offers intensive seminars (1-3 days) related to Software systems, Information systems, Telecommunications, ICT & Business, and Innovative ICT technology. These seminars can be included in doctoral studies.

3. Methodology Centre for Human Sciences

The Methodology Centre for Human Sciences offers to the University of Jyväskylä's doctoral students and researchers training and events on research methodology across faculty boundaries.

4. Jyväskylä Summer School

The Jyväskylä Summer School (JSS) is organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Science and the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The Summer School is annually in August and it offers courses for advanced master’s students, graduate students and post-docs in the various fields of science and information technology.

5. Graduate Schools

There are several other doctoral programs in Finland that work on ICT field and they organize courses specifically for doctoral students. Their own students are usually prioritized, but the courses may be open also for other students.

6. Language Center

7. Check your email!

There are occasionally some other good opportunities, e.g. intensive courses lectured by our international guests. Doctoral students are informed by email about them.
