  • Tekes approved funding for the new TIVIT Internet-of-Things program
    On 20.01.2012, Tekes has made the positive funding decision for the commencing TIVIT Internet-of-Things (IoT) program. The University of Jyväskylä, together with seven other research institutions and circa 20 industrial partners will actively participate in this program coordinated by Ericsson.

The Department

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is located in the Agora building by lake Jyväsjärvi. True to its name (Gr; market, meeting place), the Agora building brings together students, teachers, researchers and businesses.

Our aim is to train highly competent professionals of information management, software production and commerce, electronic commerce and digital media, to provide professionals working in other fields with basic skill sets in using and managing information technology, as well as to carry out internationally acclaimed, high quality research in selected fields of expertise.

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems is unique in Finland in combining information technology teaching with economic sciences. The department is in collaboration with a number of local and international businesses and public organisations.
