Corporate Communication

Corporate Communication investigates communication management, stakeholder relations and organisational reputation. Digital communication has become an important part of this. The study prepares students for work at the strategic level in companies, public sector organizations, research institutes, PR agencies or as independent consultants. The environment of organizations is highly dynamic and this highlights the importance of communication.

Study programmes

Corporate Communication is a stream on the bachelor level, and a specialisation programme on the MA level. Most courses are offered in Finnish and some in English. The discipline also has many doctoral students. Before 2017, when Corporate Communication became part of JSBE, it used the name Organizational Communication and PR. There is an active student association, called ‘Imago’, and a Facebook alumni group next to the university-broad alumni activities.

During their studies, students learn to utilise communication theory and models to analyse communication processes and to create interactive communication campaigns online and offline. Topics include strategic communications, public relations theory, internal communications and change, issues and crisis management, media relations, media content creation, marketing communication, communication advice and research. The Corporate Communication competence profile (opens a downloadable pdf-file) further describes what the studies aim at.

Corporate Communication focuses on the following key themes:

  • Dynamic stakeholder relations, issues and crisis communication
  • Social capital and change communication in organizations
