Dr. J. Mikko Rautiainen

J. Mikko RautiainenMikko completed his doctoral work in 2007 (inorganic chemistry) at the University of Jyväskylä, after which he worked with Prof. Jack Passmore at the University of New Brunswick investigating reactive species stabilized by weakly coordinating anions and the thermodynamics of absorption of small molecules. He later held the prestigious Academy of Finland self-funded Postdoctoral Researcher position with the chalcogen chemistry research group of Prof. Risto Laitinen at the University of Oulu. In spring 2016, Mikko returned to Jyväskylä and he is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher funded by the Emil Aaltonen Foundation. Mikko's research interests combine different aspects of computational and experimental chemistry including theoretical bonding analyses, characterization of molecular properties, reaction design and catalytic applications.
