Department of Chemistry

M.Sc. Hannu Vuori

Hannu VuoriHannu is the "grand old man" of our group. He graduated from the Department of Chemistry already in 1982 after which he worked as a software programmer for companies like Olivetti, Nokia and Tieto, developing code for ATMs, mobile phones and mobile network switches. In late 2011, Hannu began his Ph.D. studies at the University of Jyväskylä, giving a fine example that it is never too late to complete unfinished projects. At the moment, he is conducting research on the Benson group increment theory in which context he also coded the Benson estimation module to the latest version of HSC Chemistry by Outotec, the world's most popular thermodynamic calculation software. Hannu's research is co-supervised by Prof. Emer. Erkki Kolehmainen at the University of Jyväskylä.
