Salo, Mikko, Professor

Research Interests:

My work is in mathematical analysis, geometry and applications. Research areas include:

  • Inverse problems for partial differential equations (applications in medical imaging)
  • Inverse problems in differential geometry (applications in seismic imaging)

Inverse problems research focuses on the mathematical theory and practical implementation of indirect measurements. Several imaging methods, such as X-ray and ultrasound imaging, employ this type of mathematics. Our research group is part of the multidisciplinary Finnish Centre of Excellence in Inverse Problems Research and is supported by an ERC Starting Grant.
