    • 13:00-14:00: Elaine Tarone introduces the work of the Douglas Fir group.
    • 14:00-15:00: Elaine Tarone and Gary Barkhuizen answer all your questions.
    • During this star-studded event, we will have the pleasure to get a personal introduction to the groundbreaking work of the Douglas Fir Group by one of its members, Elaine Tarone. After that, Elaine Tarone and Professor Gary Barkhuizen from the University of Auckland, another RECLAS visitor, will  answer all question you maybe have about SLA, language learning and teaching, applied linguistics, research, or life in general. Please sign up for the event by emailing by March 22.

    • While enjoying some drinks and each other’s company, we hope to talk about how to be a responsible scholar in today’s academic and social climate — and any other topics people bring to the table. For instance, Elaine and her husband Grant have been active in fighting homelessness and racial injustice in Minnesota - this could be a time and space to share, listen, exchange stories and opinions around this or other topics. No need to sign up - just come to Sohwi!

    • Elaine Tarone holds open office hours on April 2 from 13:00-16:00. If you’d like to make an appointment to brainstorm ideas, talk about a paper, project, or proposal, or just to chat with her, please book a 30-minute time slot by emailing by March 29.
