I am interested in the role of epigenetic changes in phenotypic plasticity and evolutionary adaptation. Gene activity can be controlled by attaching different chemical groups to DNA and associated proteins. These are called epigenetic modifications and interestingly these modifications can sometimes be inherited. I study the role of these modifications when organisms need to adapt to environmental changes in the short and in the long term. The goal is to understand how organisms are able to cope with changing environments.
