Vacancies

Postdocs (2) wanted!

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic postdocs to join our research group. Candidates should already have a PhD, or be about to obtain a PhD, in ecology, evolutionary biology, behavioral ecology, population biology, or any other relevant discipline. The main aim of the project is to explore how signals evolve in complex communities; main focus being in predator-prey interactions using birds and chemically defended prey as model systems. This project is dedicated to advancing our understanding of communication in communities that feature multiple trophic levels, differences in biodiversity, and indirect effects that propagate between species. We are losing predators from ecosystems across the globe with little understanding of how this will affect prey populations directly. As warning signals are expected to change in response to predator composition, they may provide a visual, easily accessible indicator of predator loss and thus ecosystem function. A successful candidate will have good problem solving and communication skills, and ability to supervise bachelor and masters level students. Our group is working as a team, thus excellent team-work skills are necessary. We work both in the field and in the lab, so you may need both rubber boots and a pipette! Previous experience in chemical ecology, pedigree analysis, vision modelling (or any colour analysis tools) and experimental research is considered as asset. Having a driving license is a must.

The job-specific salary component of a postdoctoral researcher is based on the job demands level 5-6 (2893,95 €/Month – 3374,18 €/Month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to the maximum of 46,3% of the job-specific salary component is also paid.

A trial period of six months will be used when the position is first filled.
