Pygospio elegans: Population dynamics and environmental influences

Because developmental mode can influence population persistence and connectivity, we have followed population and reproductive dynamics of Pygospio elegans at four sites in the Isefjord Roskilde Fjord estuary in in Denmark, where multiple types of larvae are produced and have investigated these patterns in relation to environmental variables at the different sites. Cohorts suggested in the survey will be examined further with population genetic analyses. In addition, the physiological response of P. elegans to acute and long term exposure to different salinities is examined in the laboratory.
