Deactivation of doctoral students’ study rights

According to the degree regulations of the University of Jyväskylä (19 §, in Finnish, in English), the dean may, upon the proposal of the supervisor, decide on the deactivation of the study right. Follow-up group members and the doctoral student are heard before the decision making. A doctoral study right can also be deactivated by the dean’s decision upon the doctoral student’s request in writing.

A doctoral student whose study right has been deactivated cannot enrol as a doctoral student and continue his/her studies. In order to continue studies, he/she must submit an acceptable scheduled study plan for the continuation of postgraduate studies to the supervisor and update/fill in the supervision document. After the supervisor has accepted the supervision document, the dean decides on the deactivation.
