Olascoaga Benat, Visiting Researcher

Research interests: I have been formerly doing research on plant physiology and plant optical signals, but lately my research focus has moved towards plant biodiversity and conservation as well as science popularization. My current research studies mechanisms to empower citizens to get involved in ecological compensation actions in urban and semi-urban environments.

Why and to whom my research is important: Urban development, changes in the land-use and exploitation of natural resources all impair ecological functions and biodiversity on varying ecosystems. My research is focused on rising awareness in citizens about biodiversity losses due to their everyday actions as well as engaging them in small-scale ecological compensatory actions.
