Research

I use fruit flies as a model organism to study function of a protein called filamin in the flight muscles of the flies. Mutations in human filamin cause muscle dystrophies (muscle diseases that cause weakness and breakdown of skeletal muscles). Studying how filamin works in fly can help us to understand how it contributes to muscle disease in humans.
