My teaching activities include several aspects of biomass processing. My main focus in teaching is on applying analytical chemistry techniques in biomass processing both in lecture hall and laboratory.

My research focuses on wood and other biomass processing, where in addition to the current processes, the development towards bio-economy requires research on new raw material processing techniques and practices. In practice this means that I apply several different analytical chemistry methods to characterize the composition and properties of the feedstocks as well as product and waste fractions of different process streams. My cooperation with wide range of industrial partners includes, besides process development, varying troubleshooting activities.
