On April 20-24, 2009 we organized the Arctic FIDIPRO-EFES Workshop Future Prospects of Nuclear Structure Physics in Saariselkä, Finland.

Topics of the workshop covered nuclear structure theory and experiments with special focus on future developments.

On the theoretical side, we discussed new developments in describing nuclei within the energy density functional and shell model methods, with a particular emphasis on structure of exotic nuclei.

On the experimental side, the physics opportunities of the upgraded facilities at JYFL and emerging opportunities at RIKEN and FAIR were discussed. The upgrades at JYFL consisted of the new recoil separator and the upgraded IGISOL facility located in the extension building of the experimental hall.
