CIAPSE 2 - Children's Physical Activity and Sport, January 26-28, 2017

University of Jyväskylä - Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences together with KIHU - Research Institute for Olympic Sports and LIKES Research Centre for Physical Activity and Health were happy to host you in the 2nd Children’s Physical Activity and Sport Conference (CIAPSE 2) on 26th-28th of January 2017 in Jyväskylä, Finland.

The first CIAPSE was held in Belgium, Liège in 2014. The main theme of the congress focuses on children younger than 12 years of age. Reflections and discussions will focus on the key period in early childhood, when children start to take part in different kinds of physical and sporting activities. The challenges within early childhood are crucial, as this is the time when relevant and appropriate practices can establish the solid foundations that children need for encouragement in order for them to take pleasure in physical activities in their daily lives as well as a part of organized sport.

This congress was a unique opportunity to meet international experts and to share your knowledge, experiences and skills through oral presentations, posters and videos.

We got researchers, physical education teachers and coaches in the field of physical activity promotion and sport to represent research projects, share new findings and discuss methodological issues regarding the various scopes of children’s growth, development, physical activity and sport research. In addition, we invited practitioners from the various areas of health promotion to join us to learn and discuss the practical implications of scientific findings. Together we can built up effective and feasible interventions.

The congress venue was Liikunta building at the University of Jyväskylä.
