An educational picture should satisfy both aesthetic and educational needs. The artistry of the picture should harmonize with the information offered. If a picture is too artistic it will satisfy all aesthetic demands but provide too little information. In the opposite case, the picture may be aesthetically substandard, unyielding or vulgar. In that case the information it provides will not be effective because the picture is unpleasant, that is, not pleasing or interesting to the eye or the emotions.
