Uno Cygnaeus compiled a significant ethnographic and natural historical collection during his voyage to Alaska. He sent the artifacts and specimen he had collected on several occasions from Sitka to Finland, e.g. to his sister Johanna, and to the University of Helsinki. The natural historical collection consists of specimens from Sitka and elsewhere; for instance, Cygnaeus acquired shells from different parts of America's west coast.
