The survey data Daily life and care in old age (DACO) was collected in 2020. It is a dataset of 3 300 Finnish older adults aged 75 years or older living at home or service housing with a response rate of 55 %. The data was collected with posted questionnaire in Finnish and Swedish. About 5 % of respondents speak Swedish as their native language. DACO data provides information on respondents’ social contacts, care needs, sources of informal care, use of public and private care services, loneliness and social support, changes in daily life and care during covid pandemic and characteristics like socio-economic background, health status and housing. A similar survey has been collected in Tampere and Jyväskylä in 2010 and 2015. The national DACO survey from 2020 in partly comparable with the previous datasets as long as the regional differences are taken into account. DACO data will be available in Finnish Social Science Data Archive when the ongoing research based on the survey has been completed.
