Lea Pulkkinen, Professor of Psychology, emerita, has studied and worked at the University of Jyväskylä since 1958 complemented by international visits. She was appointed in the 1990s as Academy Professor and Director of the national Centre of Excellence for Research entitled Human Development and Its Risk Factors. She has studied human development from middle childhood to middle age, genetic and environmental factors in twins’ social behavior and health, and applied issues relating to school. She was President of the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development in 1991-1996. She has received the Finnish Science Award (2001) and other awards and honors.
