Lisandrina Mari

I am an evolutionary ecologist interested in how anthropogenic changes affect the life-history traits and reproductive behavior of vertebrates (birds and freshwater fish). My current project at JYU investigates the impacts of heavy metal pollution on the reproduction and health of birds with an important focus on how fathers can transmit stress to their offspring through epigenetic mechanisms. The project integrates physiology, behavior and epigenetics to identify new biomarkers of pollution exposure, and help monitoring of the impacts of heavy metal pollution on ecosystem health.
