I'm working in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Brain Research as a technical expert. My main focus, also research-wise, is magnetoencephalography (MEG). My duties include serving the whole brain research community of JYU in matters related to data collection and analysis, hardware and software needs, issues such as brain data protection and security, and working with external partners. I'm responsible for user training and support in CIBR. In addition, I'm leading the development of brain research facilities in JYU, with the aim of an integrated multi-scientific environment for this important field of study.
My main interest is to utilize MEG to find out how the human brain processes visual information, how that processing if affected e.g. by attention, and how visual features are maintained and acted upon in short-term memory. I also do research focusing on data analysis methods for MEG. These are both important for basic science and specific application areas, like research in learning and neuronal dysfunctions.
