In this talk, Dr. Chavarie will present her research on intraspecific variation in salmonids, using the Arctic charr as a model system. Her work examines the ecological factors shaping intraspecific diversity in post-glacial fishes and the patterns and repeatability of multi-ecotype assemblages among sympatric salmonid populations.
Louise Chavarie is an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). Her research focuses on fish ecology, evolution, and conservation, with an emphasis on Arctic species such as the Arctic charr. She investigates ecological diversity, trophic interactions, and adaptive traits of fish populations, particularly in response to environmental change. By integrating ecological, evolutionary, and applied approaches, her work contributes to sustainable management and biodiversity conservation in northern ecosystems.
Biological and Environmental Science Seminar 4.12.2025
Biological and Environmental Seminar by Visiting Speaker Louise Chavarie from Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) on the topic of "The ecological importance of intraspecific variation in postglacial lakes".
Open to everyone interested. The event offers a great opportunity to learn, share ideas, and connect with colleagues across disciplines. Welcome!
Coffee will be served at 1:45 PM before the day´s seminars - come early to grab a cup and mingle!
