You are warmly welcome to the JSBE Research Seminar in Agora room D221.3 on Tuesday 12 May 2026 at 16:15. At the seminar, we have two presentations; first PhD Jaana Kettunen (UEF) will give a presentation of the manuscript titled Accounting for the virtual: Discretion and the construction of revenue in the mobile gaming industry. Then PhD Kari Sippola (JSBE) will give a presentation of the manuscript titled Shifting perceptions of expectations: The role of controllers in Finnish Municipalities.

Bios:

PhD Jaana Kettunen is Research Manager at University of Eastern Finland. Her research focuses mainly on financial accounting in its social and institutional context. In her Ph.D. at the University of Jyväskylä, Jaana investigated transnational accounting regulation and the infrastructure of financial reporting. Jaana’s research on translation of the International Financial Reporting Standards, and audit, has been published in journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, British Accounting Review and European Accounting Review. Her main research interests lie in: Interdisciplinary accounting and auditing research, work of financial reporting, intersection between language translation and accounting, Co-operative Tax Compliance, and accounting for social impact. Jaana serves as the director of the Finnish Graduate School of Accounting (GSA) in KATAJA.

PhD Kari Sippola is University Lecturer at Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics. He has over 30 years' experience in teaching and supervising accounting. Sippola has published his research in highly ranked journals such as Management Accounting Research, Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, and Financial Accountability & Management. Sippola has experience in funded research projects from different foundations. He has also worked in many different fields (such as banking, software business, consulting, and paper industry) outside academia.
