Collective Intelligence -tutkimusryhmä keskittyy tutkimuksessaan tekoälyyn (Artificial Intelligence)AI), mukaan lukien koneoppimisen (Machine Learning, ML). Tutkimusryhmän työ ei pohjaudu pelkästään tekoälyn ja koneoppimisen hyödyntämiseen muualla vaan sen tavoitteena on etenkin tekoälyn ja koneoppimisen kehittäminen itsessään.

Collective Intelligence -tutkimusryhmä (aiemmin Industrial Ontologies Group) on pilotoi useita erilaisia sisältöjä, metodeja ja työkaluja, ja on hallinnoi kahta Informaatioteknologian tiedekunnan kansainvälistä maisteriohjelmaa: WISE: Web Intelligence and Service Engineering; ja COIN: “Cognitive Computing and Collective Intelligence”.
