FORTHEM online-kurssi: Visual and Digital Cultures, 2 ECTS (Université de Bourgogne)

New online course for autumn semester 2022, “Visual and digital cultures”, UFR Langues et Communication

An online course, taught all in English, will be offered in autumn 2022 by the UFR Langues et Communication thanks to the University of Burgundy’s partnership with FORTHEM Alliance

Class 1: American Parody, the example of 'Saturday Night Live'

Introduction to Saturday Night Live and to the methodology of sequence/sketch analysis (class 1), case study in class on several SNL skits (classes 2-3), and oral presentations in groups on some pre-listed SNL videos (classes 4-6)

Class 2: Dario Fo and Franca Rame, the jesters of post-war Italy

introduction on the life and works of Dario Fo and Franca Rame; analysis of one of their most famous works, “Mistero Buffo”; presentations in groups of some selected sequences of “Mistero Buffo”. Knowledge of Italian is a plus, but it is not required.

  • This course is part of FORTHEM Digital Academy and open to international students. The duration of the class is 12 hours for the fall semester (September-December 2022) and is worth 2 ECTS credits. You will also receive a FORTHEM open badge at the end of the course. The class will be taught remotely, on the Teams platform, and will start on Monday September 19st 2022, meeting every Monday evening, 5pm-6pm (French time).
  • The course is composed of 2 short classes taught by different professors: for each short class, there will be an evaluation during the semester. International students are allowed to register for this class without having followed it last year, as each teaching component is independent.
  • This class will welcome around 10 international students, and registration will be on a “first come first served” basis.
