Markku Penttonen

Biography

I am an  Emeritus Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Brain Research at the University of Jyväskylä.

My research integrates behavioral, cognitive, and systems neuroscience, with a focus on hippocampal oscillations and transient population events, synaptic plasticity and memory, and interactions between autonomic and neural processes in learning and behavioral synchronization.

I employ a wide range of methods spanning intra- and extracellular electrophysiology, EEG, functional MRI, and psychophysiological measurements.

I have led research groups in cognitive neurobiology and neural plasticity.
