Department of Languages - multifaceted education and high-quality research
The Department of Languages researches how language affects individuals and communities, and how societal change affects language, language learning, teaching and use. Our multidisciplinary research takes on the challenges of evolving multilingualism apparent in the society. The research conducted at the Department of Languages focuses on applied linguistics, which means examining language in a societal context. Our research focus areas are (1) the pathways, conventions and environments of language learning and (2) discourse, interaction, social and cultural action.
