If you wish to prove your English skills with a higher education degree, the degree must be completed in English in an EU/EEA country or one of the following: Australia, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Canada, Dominica, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
The degree must be a bachelor's degree or some other equivalent or higher degree. The degree-awarding institution must be a recognised part of the official national education system of a country listed above.
Your transcript of records or degree certificate must unambiguously state English as a language of instruction. Otherwise, you are required to submit some other official document (e.g., diploma supplement, a medium of instruction certificate) issued by the relevant higher education institution stating the language of instruction. When applying, you must upload a scanned copy of the necessary document(s) to your application form. If some document was issued to you in a language other than English, Finnish, or Swedish, an official translation is required in addition to the original language version. If you are offered a study place, you are required to submit officially certified copies for verification.
Take note of the following, especially if your degree includes transfer credits, your degree is an international joint degree, or you studied on an offshore campus or in several languages: At least 50% of the credits included in the degree must have been completed in English in a country mentioned above. Your transcript(s) of records or some other official document issued by the relevant higher education institution must clearly indicate the language of instruction and where you completed your credits. The requirement to have completed at least 50% of the credits in English is waived if English is an official language of instruction of the programme. If you have completed a fully online degree, the higher education institution providing the instruction must be located in an aforementioned country.
If you graduate after the application deadline: An in-progress degree can serve as proof of your English skills if the following conditions are met:
- The degree is completed in full in a country (or countries) mentioned above.
- English is an official language of instructions of the programme.
Your possible admission will be conditional until you submit proof of your graduation (by the given deadline at the latest).
