Learning outcomes

She/he know the key structural traits of the aquatic macrophyte (vascular plants and bryophytes) groups, basics of their life histories and the environmental drivers of species distributions and community structure. The student recognizes the roles of macrophytes in the aquatic ecosystems and in ecological assessment of lakes and rivers. She/he is familiar with species identification techniques, actively knows the common species in Finland, and has preparedness to identify all species. She/he is capable of carrying out field inventories of aquatic vegetation, applying conventional methods used by authorities in legislative assessment and monitoring.
