About the event
Early Modern Oeconomies of Police brings together scholars working on the history of police, oeconomy, and political economy in early modern and Enlightenment Europe. Through case studies ranging from Sweden and Central Europe to Russia and Britain, the workshop explores how ideas of governance, social order, and economic management were conceptualized, translated, and transformed across different contexts. It seeks to shed new light on the historical connections between police and political economy before the emergence of modern economics.
