Japan day

Japan Day, open to all and free of charge, is held at the University Library Lähde on Saturday 3.2.2024. During the day there will be a wide range of activities: workshops, musical performances, small lectures and exploring traditions.

Welcome to Japan day to get to know Japanese customs and culture!

The event is organised in cooperation with Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Japan Airlines and the City of Jyväskylä.

Programme:

  • 10:15-10:45 Ghibli movie music, Rina Nakane, transverse flute

  • 11.00–11.20 band New Shades

  • 12.0012.45 Japanese customer service culture Omotenashi (Japan Airlines, in English) 

  • 13.00–13.45 Presentation of Toyota's Technology Centre project and Central Finland Mobility Foundation (Cefmof), their impact on the development of the region (Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Cefmof and City of Jyväskylä, in Finnish)

  • 14.00–14.45 Japan's less common travel destinations (Japan Airlines, in Finnish and in English)

  • 9.30–13.00 Origami workshop, come by whenever you like 

  • 9.30–13.00 Calligraphy workshop, come by whenever you like 

  • 9.30–13.00 Go board game demonstration

  • 10.00–14.30 Anime club Tsukiai 

  • 10.30–11.30 Ikebana flower arranging demonstration

  • 11.00–13.00 Setsubun workshop especially for children, come by whenever you like 

  • 11.30–15.00 Japan Airlines’ children’s uniforms to be fitted 

  • University sport kendo introduced

If you get hungry during the event, you can enjoy lunch or refreshments in the Restaurant Taide (10.30-15.30) and Café Tiede (9-16). See menus and prices.
