The Cost of Growth seeks to remind us that efforts towards sustainability are not separate from questions of global justice and equality.

The film contains interviews from a variety of people, such as activist Greta Thunberg and degrowth thinker Jason Hickel. It highlights the economic structures and power dynamics that continue the current path of environmental degradation and economic inequality. It also showcases the importance of community efforts in rebuilding a just and sustainable future.
Before the screening, doctoral researcher Ira Vainikainen will give opening words. After the film, there will be an open discussion to share thoughts and reflect how to action in academia and elsewhere.
The documentary has subtitles in English. Small snacks will be served.
