The Jyväskylä University Botanical Garden covers nearly 36 hectares and includes the green spaces of all three JYU campuses: Seminaarinmäki, Mattilanniemi and Ylistönrinne.
Seminaarinmäki campus garden in Jyväskylä is Finland’s first official, state-funded school garden. Its historic plants form the valuable foundation of the entire plant collection. Seminaarinmäki’s lush, historically layered botanical garden comprises Seminaarinmäki Park, created in the 1880s, and Aallonpuisto, the campus park designed by Alvar Aalto and built in the 1950s and 1970s.
In the area, you will find a variety of historic plants and beautiful meadows. During the Open Gardens event (Avoimet puutarhat), you will find a botanical garden info point in the front yard of the Lähde Library (Building B) at Seminaarinmäki.
