An open keynote lecture in economic history on the political agency of corporations will be held on Wednesday, 10 June 2026 at 17:45 in room H320 of the Historica building on the Seminaarinmäki campus. The lecture is organized as part of the Baltic Connections and the Scandinavian Society for Economic and Social History conference.
The keynote will be given by Marcelo Bucheli, Professor of Business Administration at the University of Illinois. His research focuses on international investments, their political dimensions, business history, and the intersection of historical research and business studies. The title of his lecture is “The Corporation as a Political Actor in History.”
The lecture will be delivered in English.
Baltic Connections and the Scandinavian Society for Economic and Social History -conference
The seventh Baltic Connections Conference and the Scandinavian Society for Economic and Social History Conference will be held jointly at the University of Jyväskylä from 10 to 12 June 2026. The conference aims to bring together scholars working in comparative, economic, social, global, and other fields of history and related social sciences to discuss various East–West historical processes and events, along with comparative and transnational perspectives on the Baltic region, Europe, and the wider world.
