The University of Jyväskylä Centre for Applied Language Studies, Apila Applied Linguistics Doctoral Seminar, the University of Jyväskylä Language Campus and the FORTHEM Alliance Multilingualism in School and Higher Education Lab proudly present a Researcher Training Seminar on the Politics of Participatory Language Research on 20 – 21 August 2025 at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland (on-site only, time zone: EEST, Helsinki).
The topic of the workshop will be examined through the following themes:

- How participatory approaches are constrained or enabled by the politics of institutions and disciplines, including reward structures, publication processes, funding mechanisms, and more
- The power dynamics of the research relationship and how power can shift (or not) when we center participation as a principle
