Call for papers deadline 24 January 2024
Variant, an interdisciplinary network of researchers in the field of textual scholarship and scholarly editing, will hold its XV annual colloquium at the University of Jyväskylä, Musica (M), Boombox, on Friday 16 February 2024 on the theme “On the Trail of Philology”. The colloquium is open to all interested parties. Information about the event will be maintained on the Variant Network website.
This year’s Variant Colloquium will bring together scholars to discuss old, new and future research issues in philology. The event aims to outline the role of philology as a unifying factor between disciplines and as a historical starting point for many humanistic disciplines. What does the history of philology look like in the 21st century? What are classical philology, new philology or Nordic editorial philology today? How are philologies evolving in the age of digital humanities?

- the transfer of European research ideas to Finland,
