FORTHEM "Immersive Week" in Opole, Poland 17th - 20th September 2024

Immersive week is offered by the University of Opole, thanks to our collaboration within the FORTHEM Alliance. Please inquire at your home department and/or JYU international office about the travel funding possibilities before registering.

During the “Immersive Week”, you will have the opportunity to participate in the following events at Uniwersytet Opolski:

Industry meeting at the International Center for Research and Development for the Agri-Food Industry
From stereotypes and discrimination to active acceptance in academic environment – workshop on intercultural competences
1st Congress of the Researchers of Borders and Borderlands
Multiplier Event: International Conference "ReThink Finance – an innovative approach in the research and study of digital and behavioural finance"
29th IAICS Conference. Intercultural Encounters: Global perspectives – local context
Methodological workshop for young researchers
Meeting with the editorial staff of FORTHEM Journal

“Immersive Week” participants will be able to immerse themselves in meetings in the field of humanities, social sciences and sciences.They will be able to meet experts from various fields and hear about innovative trends shaping different areas of research, also done by young researchers.

Selected events will also involve representatives of local businesses to further strengthen the cooperation between science and the regional socio-economic environment. The idea of “Immersive Week” is that each participant can take part in activities of their choice. You do not have to attend the entire event. We plan that several hundred people from dozens of countries around the world will participate in the “Immersive Week” at University of Opole.

Join the event!

For JYU staff members, it is possible to receive Erasmus+ staff training funding for covering the costs of the trip (travel costs, accommodation). Please contact kv-henkilostoliikkuvuus@jyu.fi for details of the process. Please note that your registration to the event cannot be confirmed without confirmation of the funding.
For JYU students, one (1) FORTHEM travel grant is available for this event. The priority will be given to active PhD students and the selection will be made based on the motivation letters. If you are interested in applying for the grant, please fill in the form by 8th August 2024. Please note that your registration to the event cannot be confirmed without confirmation of the funding.
For interested participants outside JYU, please contact your own organisation to find out about the procedures for the funding.

The FORTHEM universities' joint science communication competition, Researcher Grand Prix, was held in Dijon, France, on Thursday, November 6. The jury selected Jun Liu from the University of Jyväskylä as the winner with her topic "Antimicrobial Textiles."

The Researcher Grand Prix is a joint science communication competition organized by FORTHEM universities, with this year's final being hosted by Université Bourgogne Europe.
