Meet our keynote speakers for the Football is Medicine conference

Peter Krustrup
Professor Peter Krustrup from the University of Southern Denmark established the "Football is Medicine" platform in 2018. Today, the platform consists of over 250 researchers from 25 countries.
Professor Krustrup's talk outlines research from the past 20 years on the positive effects of recreational football and discusses future steps to use football as a means for prevention and treatment.
Maysa Vieira de Sousa
Dr. Maysa Vieira de Sousa is a Nutrition and Exercise Researcher at the Karolinska Institutet and the University of Sao Paulo.
Her research interests focus on how nutritional and physical training interventions impact athletic performance, hormonal and molecular changes, and overall health in chronic metabolic diseases. In her presentation, she will explore combining recreational sports training and diet in the treatment of diabetes.
Felipe Lobelo
Dr. Felipe Lobelo is an Associate Professor in the Hubert Department of Global Health at Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health.
In his keynote speech, Dr. Lobelo will discuss how tools from implementation science can enhance the population health impact of sports and health interventions. This approach not only supports sustainability but also encourages wider participation and engagement. Ultimately, this leads to improved health outcomes and social benefits within communities.
Katrine Kryger
Dr. Katrine Kryger is currently employed as a Medical Specialist at UEFA. Formerly she was an Associate Professor in Sport Rehabilitation at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, UK.
Dr. Kryger’s research interests are in football medicine and technology, with a strong emphasis on advancing women’s football through evidence-based practices.
Her keynote will focus on the growth of women’s football and the necessity for tailored approaches. By referencing research and the lived experiences of practitioners, she will discuss essential considerations for women and girls in the football environment, including equipment, footwear, and facilities.
The seventh Football is Medicine conference is aimed at a wide range of audiences, including researchers, students, coaches, practitioners in clubs, physical education teachers, doctors and providers of physical activity service.
