Table of contents
General instructions - read these first!
Calls for applications for Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) intended for students of the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences are published on this page.
You may apply for several Blended Intensive Programmes during the same application period.
- If the application period ends at the same time with another BIP, you may only be selected for one.
You cannot be employed by JYU (eg. as research assistant) during the BIP!
- If you are employed by JYU, we cannot pay you the Erasmus grant before your employment contract ends.
- If you are currently employed by JYU, please note this on the application form (question: Other reasons for applying) and let us know when your contract ends.
You must be a degree student at the time of the BIP!
- You cannot graduate with master’s degree before the BIP takes place!
Before applying, please carefully consider if you are available for travel during the whole duration of the intensive week.
- It is not possible to partially participate in the programme.
- The course organiser needs to receive a certain number of students from its partner universities, and JYU aims to be a reliable partner by sending the number of students it has committed to.
There are no course fees for BIP courses.
- You must cover your travel and accommodation expenses yourself. You will get a travel grant from JYU.
All credits you earn from a BIP course will be transferred to your degree but you must yourself apply for the credit transfer on SISU.
Experiences of Nature Adventures (Nord Universitet, Bodø, Norway)
Course description
Swimming in the arctic ocean. Mountain hiking. What happens to the body when you are in challenging outdoor environments? How does the body react? What happens with the mind? How do groups respond to outdoor environments? What is your role in the group? How do we interact with the surrounding nature?
Come to Arctic Norway to learn and explore! This course is for everyone who is interested in the more challenging side of the outdoors!
Students will be accompanied by teacher Susanna Saari.
Language requirements: Minimum English B2 (test can be taken on EU academy after you have been selected to the BIP)
Physical requirements: Students must be able to swim and walk/hike >10km on their own. Clarification for the swimming skill: students will try out "body surfing" in a stream with wetsuits on and they must be able to swim back to the shore again. No long distance swimming skills needed.
The course will take place in Bodø from 29 June to 3 July 2026. The compulsory online component of the course will be held in two parts on 27 May and 10 June 2026. The course is worth 3 ECTS credits, which you may, upon application, include in your elective studies.
Selection criteria
Five students from the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences will be selected. Priority will be given to Bachelor's and Master's students in sport pedagogy.

- Students who have had no international mobility previously and have not been selected to another mobility programme.
Travel grant
Regular grant: 79 € per day + 2 travel days (79 € each) + travel grant 309 € = 862 €.
Green travel: You will receive additional travel days and higher travel grant for green travel. It would take at least 2 travel days one way to reach Bodö from Jyväskylä, so for round trip you would receive 4 travel days or more. The total grant with 4 travel days would be 1365 €.
- Please note that the number of travel days depends on your final route plan and the maximum is 6 travel days.
Possible travel route by train and bus would be eg. Jyväskylä – Oulu – Haaparanta – Boden – Narvik – Bodö. Carpooling with other BIP participants is also an option!

Students with fewer opportunities
The Erasmus+ programme provides additional support for students who have fewer opportunities to participate in exchange studies. You can find the full list of eligible groups at the link below. The most common reason for belonging to a fewer‑opportunities category is having underage children.
Students with fewer opportunities are given priority in BIP selections, and we strongly encourage you to apply! Students with fewer opportunities also receive an additional travel grant.
