MyJYU app makes your everyday life easier

With MyJYU, you can pick which campus restaurant to visit for student-priced meals. All open student restaurants are listed on the Lunch page. Tap the restaurant’s name to see its opening hours, location on the map, and menus for today and the full week (including ingredients). Tap the heart icon to add a restaurant to the My Favourite Restaurants list on the front page. You can also sort restaurants on the Lunch page alphabetically, by location, or by favourites using the menu in the upper-right corner.

On the Calendar page, you can see what’s happening today and where. The calendar automatically pulls events from the Sisu calendar as well as your room reservations, and you can view them in daily, weekly, or monthly layouts. You cannot add events or notes directly in the app, but any personal entries you make in your Sisu study calendar will appear in the app.

MyJYU’s campus map, Navi, helps you navigate the campus. The map lets you reserve facilities and explore campus buildings. You can view it in several modes and choose to display outdoor activity areas, cycling and bus routes, campus restaurants, and parking areas. It also shows the familiar letter abbreviations for campus buildings, as well as the locations of the Student Health Foundation (YTHS), the Travel Centre, and bus stations. Tap a campus building to see its opening hours and floor plans, including the locations of lecture halls and student restaurants. To move between floors, tap the stairs icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

You can search for and book spaces using the map service’s search function, the advanced search, or by tapping a space directly on the map. You can then book the space via its reservation calendar. Detailed instructions for the map service are available through HelpJYU, accessible by tapping the question mark icon in the upper-right corner of the advanced search in MyJYU.

Both students and staff can reserve available spaces via MyJYU. You can reserve, for example, group working spaces, meeting rooms, silent working spaces and classrooms. By entering the desired date and time you can view the spaces available for reservation during that time. You can filter the results by building, room type, capacity, and equipment. You can add rooms to your favourites by pressing the heart next to the Reserve button. When sorting by favourites, your favourite spaces will thus show on top of the results, if they are available for reservation.

Please note that staff workspaces are reserved via the Workspaces tab.

The app displays a barcode for your library card, making it easy to borrow books and use multifunction devices. Your personal reservation code for library services appears at the bottom of the screen. Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner to rotate the barcode, update your card information, or view instructions for using your library card. You can also change your library card PIN in Settings.

You can view your study records in the app. Your performance data is retrieved from Sisu and displayed in a list, organised from most recent to oldest, by study modules and individual courses.

In MyJYU, you can browse the University’s latest news and upcoming events. Student news and IT bulletins are available on the app’s News page. Tap a title to view the full content in your browser. On the Upcoming Events page, you can see events for students. Tap a title to open event details in your browser.

In MyJYU, you can view the timetables for uMove’s group exercise classes and ball games. Clicking on a session opens more details, such as the class description and instructions for collecting any required equipment. The menu at the bottom of the page provides a link to the uMove website. Your university sports membership information is stored in the app. Activating your membership card requires you to log in with your university credentials.

For new students, the to-do list for first-year students provides a checklist of important study-related tasks. The list is divided into three sections: before, at the start of, and after beginning your studies. You can mark each item as completed by clicking the checkbox next to it.

With AI Transcription, you can use the MyJYU app as a recorder for interviews and automatically send the recordings for transcription and translation into English via Researchvideo. The service uses artificial intelligence to automatically transcribe audio in 90 languages and translate the transcript into English. AI Transcription is designed for collecting research data, such as material for theses and research projects. The service allows you to handle sensitive information securely, as all data are stored only within the app. Using the service requires biometric authentication, an up-to-date phone operating system, and permission to record audio.

The QR reader lets you view information about campus spaces and workstations and make reservations by scanning the QR codes on the doors. Scanning a code takes you to the Room reservations tab, where you can book the space.

The service directory gathers the key services for students in one place It includes, for example, Sisu, HelpJYU, and JYKDOK, as well as over 30 other services. Clicking on a service will take you to its website.

The Minerva chatbot is a customer service and advisory tool that answers general questions about studying, student services, IT matters, and the library. Minerva provides advice, links, and contact information 24/7. Its content is created and reviewed by staff, and conversations are regularly monitored to ensure quality.

Via the search function you can look for information from the university website. The function can be accessed from both the sidebar and via the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner of the home page. Search results are divided into three categories: contacts and locations, pages, and top results.

In Settings, you can customise the app’s options, including language, notifications, theme, and dietary preferences. You can choose Finnish or English as your language and switch the theme between light and dark. Your dietary preferences let you set restrictions, so the lunch page shows only menu items suitable for you from campus restaurants. You can also change your library card PIN, update the app, and check the current app version and license information.

You can view notifications by tapping the bell icon at the top of the side menu. Notifications are listed from newest to oldest, and new ones are marked with a small red dot. To delete a notification, swipe it to the left. You can adjust notification settings by tapping Settings (gear icon) at the top of the notifications page or in the app’s main Settings page.

The Info page opens the first time you use the MyJYU app. It provides a brief introduction to the app and the services it offers to students and staff. On the last tab, the Let’s Begin button will take you to the login screen, or to the app’s home page if you are already logged in.

The Send feedback button takes you to HelpJYU, where you can request help with app-related issues, provide feedback, or suggest ideas for improving the app.

Staff can reserve spaces available through the Asio booking system via MyJYU. By default, MyJYU searches for spaces that are available until 6 p.m. on the current day. You can change the date and the start and end times of the reservation.

Please note that MyJYU also shows you workstations from other departments. When making a reservation, do check the name of the workstation to see which department the space belongs to.

Staff who work regular working hours (other staff, research assistants) can use the PremiTime working time monitoring system via MyJYU. Instructions on how to use PremiTime can be found on Intranet Uno.

Staff can view their various Vasara tasks through MyJYU.
