We conduct research on hybrid media systems across a variety of societal, organizational and everyday contexts. We are interested in how mediatization, accompanied by such processes as datafication, digitalization, platformization, and the development of artificial intelligence, are shaping not only media and communication processes but also the forms and conditions of everyday life.
Topics here include journalism in changing media ecosystems, communication and interaction involving technologies, the effects of artificial intelligence on society and organisations, work practices in physical, virtual and mixed environments, as well as dis- and misinformation and other risks and threats related to new technologies. Through our work, we contribute to discussions on the role of different media in societal changes and new forms of expertise required by such changes.
