Apply to become a tutor for exchange students for spring 2026! Application opens on September 29th.

As an exchange tutor, you will help incoming exchange and visiting students adapt to a new country, city, and university, and introduce them to Finnish student life. At the same time, you’ll develop valuable skills that are also highly appreciated by employers.
Exchange tutors get reimbursed for the hours spent on tutoring (14 euros/h, max 30h), and a mandatory tutor training is organized to prepare them for the tasks. First-time exchange tutors can also get credits from tutoring. The size of tutor groups in international tutoring is about 4-7 students per tutor.

Selection process
Exchange tutors are selected based on their international experience and motivation. Previous experience abroad or participation in international activities (e.g. ESN, IDESCO, subject association) is considered an advantage. Good English skills are required, and you’ll often get to practice other languages as well.
Exchange and visiting students will primarily be grouped with tutors from the same faculty. Therefore, the number of incoming international students per faculty will affect the selection process.
Applicants who have not previously worked as exchange tutors will be invited to a remote group interview. Please note that attending both the interview and the training is required to be selected as a tutor. Interviews will take place during week 44.
