You will do your job with the support of the JYU marketing team.

Read below the descriptions of the activities of the international student ambassadors and see what we offer in return. For instructions on how to apply for this job, please see the end of this news item.

Student Ambassadors work as a part of the marketing team

As a student ambassador, you will have three main tasks: producing content for the website and social media channels, participating in events for applicants and answering questions by our prospective students. You will do this in cooperation with other ambassadors and JYU’s marketing specialist. Our main target group is people who want to study for a bachelor’s or master’s degree in English.

1) Producing content for JYU’s channels

JYU student ambassadors share their experiences about student life to applicants and current students in the University’s social media channels. In addition, the student ambassadors will create also other content, such as videos, blogs or presentations. To provide this content, student ambassadors cooperate with other students, alumni, university staff, subject associations, etc.

In terms of your communication skills, we expect that

  • You are familiar with social media platforms, such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and know how to produce suitable content for these channels.
  • You have an eye for visual design, and you know how to take good-quality photos or produce nice videos with your phone.
  • You have strong social and teamwork skills.
  • You can write fluent texts in English for different purposes (captions, blogs, news items).

2) Representing JYU at live and online events

International student ambassadors inform people about the University of Jyväskylä and student life by participating in student recruitment fairs, making visits to schools or guiding visitor groups at our university. The student ambassadors organise social media live streams, webinars and other presentations as well as answer applicants’ questions about programmes, applying and student life on Unibuddy platform.

In terms of your presentation skills, we expect that

  • You like to perform in public and wish to develop into an inspiring speaker.
  • You know how to engage your audience and keep them interested.
  • You are familiar with JYU’s website and other digital channels and know how to use them to find information.
  • You are a kind, open and approachable person to start a conversation with.

Who can apply to be a student ambassador?

All students on JYU's international bachelor’s or master's degree programmes can apply to become ambassadors. You need to be fluent in English, since the working language in the team is English, and you will produce content and give presentations in English. Finnish language skills are not required.

You are the person we are looking for, if also…

  3. You are an encouraging team worker and happy to learn new skills in marketing, communication, presentation, interaction and collaboration.
  4. You are ready to try new things and throw yourself into new ventures. You dare to bring forth your ideas.
